MISSION
STATEMENT
St. Augustine of
Canterbury Catholic School was founded as a parish school in 1956 to perpetuate
the teachings of the Catholic Church and to provide a quality education to
students from preschool through Grade 8. Our school provides a Christian
environment where a child can grow in self-esteem to become a lifelong learner
and a contributor to the parish family and community. Our students learn to
appreciate the value and diversity of every human being and develop a spirit of
teamwork and cooperation. Our curriculum is designed to foster a love of
learning so that children will be prepared to meet the challenges of an
ever-changing world.
CURRICULUM
St. Augustine Catholic
School is in partnership with the family and the church to assure that our
students will actively grow in knowing Christ and in being active members of
the Catholic Church and society as witnessed by their leadership and service.
The educational program for students is accomplished by increasing their
knowledge, stimulating their creative thinking, and developing their potential
skills, understanding, insights, attitudes, and values. Through a well balanced
curriculum, each student will have the necessary tools for success and
life-long learning. Sound objectives in all areas provide for a
horizonta1/integrated development and for a vertica1/progressive development of
the student. The classroom educator is pro- vided with identifiable and
measurable concepts and skills in each subject. The scope and sequence of
concepts and skills establish minimal competencies for each grade and allow for
short and long range planning, periodic evaluation, and Professional
accountability.
