• Doing a "Good Turn Daily," in lieu of a gift exchange, the Scouts of Troop 24 chose to give a needy family $100 for Christmas presents.  The family would not had any presents for Christmas if it were not for the thoughfulness of our Scouts.  Thanks
  
  
• Congratulations to Mr. Martin on receiving the George A. Meany Scouting Labor Award on August 30, 2007.  Presented by the Southwestern Illinois Labor Council.
  
  
• On June 29, 2007, Weston H., Kevin S. and Mr. Komora were inducted into the Order of the Arrow, Scouting's National Honor Society.
  
  
• Adam C. and Matt S. were inducted as Braves into the Camp Joy Tribe of Mannaseh on June 28, 2007.
  
  
• Mark Walz has stepped down as Troop Committee Chairman after many years of distinguished service. The new Committee Chairman is Edward Hock.
  
  
• And Troop 24 Scouter of the Year is:  Bonnie Fietsam - Thanks Bonnie for all the years as Committee Treasurer
  
  
• Congratulations to Troop 24 for receiving the Bronze National Camping Award for 20 Days and 20 Nights.  This Award was presented to the Troop at the Court of Honor on February 20, 2007

• Special Congratulations to Chris B. for passing his Eagle Board of Review on February 15, 2007
  
  
• After seven years as Scoutmaster of Troop 24, Mr. Law has resigned his position as Scoutmaster effective Jan. 1, 2007.  Jim will stay on with the Troop taking the position as Assistant Scoutmaster.  We will all miss Jim being at the helm.  Mr. Komora will be taking over as Scoutmaster.
  
  
• On June 30, 2006, Mr. Martin, Adam C., Greg K., and Matt S. were inducted into the Order of the Arrow,  Scouting's National Honor Society.  The purpose of the Order of the Arrow is fourfold:  (OA Factsheet - click here)
  • To recognize those Scout campers who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives
  • To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit
  • To promote Scout camping
  • To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others
